hum of motors in streets below…
a symphony really…

cop cars carryin’ criminals to holdin’ tanks…
ambulances vainly driving the dead down county roads…
wishes for more time…wishes for more time…
helicopters fly over a sleepin’ citizenry…
dreams keep ’em safe…

this darkness…
not a star in the sky…
just lights reflected off buildings…
